2D Roguelike ‘Tokoyo: The Tower of Perpetuity’ Gets Update 0.3 Adding New Character

Playism announced that TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity from solo indie developer Saebashi has received an update for its Steam Early Access.

The update, titled Version 0.3, adds a fifth playable character named Imibi to the game, an over 1000-year-old fox spirit that can automatically attack any enemies in range. This character provides players with a new way to experience the action systems. From now until February 22, the game will be available for 20%. Note that it is still in Early Access, with no release date, but the developer has been pushing out a steady stream of updates.

Along with the new character, players will find:

  • New artifact “Magical Cane” added. Possessing it increases skill attack power.
  • New items “Antimatter Fragment,” “Barrier Crystal,” and “Amulet Card” added.
  • Gain bonuses such as health restoration and one-time-only damage negation, etc.
  • Approximately 20 new map generation patterns were added.
  • Includes general balance adjustments and bug fixes.
  • Key config added.

TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity features a tower that procedurally generates every 24 hours in real-time. Along with the layout, changes are new enemies and trap placement. Players will aim to obtain the top rank each day to see who can get the furthest. This reduces the chance of any memorization, but there’s an added layer of split routes that might make it more difficult.

The game features some online social elements, such as when you die, a gravestone will appear along with some select final words for players to see. Additionally, there are character customization options to choose from, with more being added.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the development of TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity.
