Arcade Shooter ‘Thunder Force AC’ Gets Switch Release Date as Part of Sega Ages Line-up

Sega announced that the newest addition to their Sega Ages line-up of digital eShop releases on Nintendo Switch will be Thunder Force AC, releasing on May 28 for $7.99.

Thunder Force AC will bring the arcade version of the series to console. The game has been developed as a faithful adaptation of the original arcade release and features three unlockable ships from later Thunder Force titles, Fire Leo-04 Rynex, Fire Leo-04 Rynex with the Thunder Claw weapon, and Fire Leo-3 Styx MP Mass Production Model. Each ship offers players a unique way to take down enemies in this shmup side-scroller.

The Sega Ages version of the game also features a “Kids Mode” that lends players a little bit of help throughout the level with increased attack power, additional credits (9 instead of 6), and the ability to hold onto weapons even after losing a ship. The game has also been rebalanced and adjusted to make this mode more accessible.

Thunder Force AC has two sets of Leaderboard for Expert and Freestyle to separate the two types of players. Players can also save and view replays to view and share on the leaderboards. Along with these additions, the game features stereo sound, HD Rumble, Vintage display option, and several save states options so dying isn’t the biggest deal.
