Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Ditches Cut Trailer for 37-Minute Gameplay Video

CD Projekt Red launched a new gameplay video for their card-based RPG Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One on December 4 and PC-via GOG on October 23.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a single player RPG set in the world of The Witcher game series. Thronebreaker combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and a card-based battle system. The game follows the story of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms. More specifically, the game takes place during the iconic moment in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Players are able to explore more of the world from a perspective of a new character. The game offers various quests and multidimensional characters. The battles are fought using cards in a turn-based gameplay.

The new video released details 37-minutes of gameplay narrated by Pawel Burza, the community manager. The video goes into depth about explaining how players interact with the world and also in battle.

You can watch the extended gameplay below:

Author’s take: The world of The Witcher is always expanding, but I’m interested in how they will well a story of epic battles and deep narrative with the usage of cards. I’m sure it’s possible, but I think I’m more intrigued by the developer’s execution of this type of niche game when they could probably put out anything, but focus on telling stories the way they want.
