The Walking Dead: Betrayal Announced for PC; Closed Beta Test August 2023
Skybound Games and Other Ocean Interactive have announced the new third-person action game, The Walking Dead: Betrayal, a cooperative experience between five to eight players. The latter team is known for their work on the hidden-role survival game Project Winter.
Throughout this game, players must team up to complete objectives and escape as fast as possible. However, alongside Walkers, some players must contend with traitors who will disrupt repairs and other efforts. Paranoia then becomes crucial to the experience, as everyone will need to judge who isn’t truly on their side.
Chief Creative Director of Skybound Entertainment and creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, stated the following about this announcement:
“We’re tremendously excited to unveil this latest The Walking Dead experience that fully immerses players with a fresh and unique take on social deception gameplay. Partnering with Other Ocean Interactive, true innovators in this game genre, will allow players to experience hordes of deceit and distrust as they struggle to work together to survive and escape.”
The CEO of Other Ocean Interactive, Andrew Ayre, stated the following about this experience:
“Pairing our deep experience and love for social deception gameplay with the incredible The Walking Dead universe is truly a match made in heaven. It’s an honor for our team to collaborate with Skybound and we can’t wait to reveal more in the coming months, and for fans to experience it starting with our upcoming beta.”
Sign-ups for the closed beta scheduled for August 10, 2023, can occur via the game’s official Discord Server.
