White Owls Inc’s Debut Title ‘The Missing’ Gets Early Launch Trailer Showing Gameplay

Arc System Works released the launch trailer for the White Owls Inc developed puzzle adventure The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam on October 11.

Directed by Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro (Deadly Premonition, D4), The Missing tells the story of two friends, J.J. and Emily as they set out on a camping trip. However, the situation takes a turn for the worse when Emily goes missing and J.J. sets out to find her. Evidently, on her search, J.J. gains the power of immortality and will suffer the hands of death over and over.

Gameplay in the missing focuses on puzzle platforming and choosing the correct ways to get through to the next area. However, that isn’t always so easy as there are many things on this island that will kill J.J. in some gruesome ways.

In case you missed it, Swery posted a video recently answering questions about The Missing and why he wanted to develop it. The studio is also currently working on the Kickstarter funded title The Good Life.

Author’s take: I haven’t been following this game as closely as I probably should be. The atmosphere and design look insanely awesome and I just want to know what happens and where the hell Emily is!
