The Mana Series’ Next Console Game Announced to be in Development

5 hours ago today, Square Enix Japan hosted a live stream celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Mana series. During this live stream, there were announcements of a brand new mobile title called Echoes of Mana and a mobile port of the recent iteration of Trials of Mana that released on modern consoles.

Thankfully there was not solely mobile game news, as the current producer of the Mana series, Masaru Oyamada, stated that there is a new Mana game in the works for consoles, but it is too soon to discuss, let alone showcase it.

You can read the translation of what he said during the live stream at 2:28:00 courtesy of RPG Site:

“It would have been good if we could make a cool video announcement with a bang, but the 30th anniversary has just begun. To be honest, we are developing it. We are working on it, but please wait a little longer for the announcement. In fact, Mr. Ishii [Mana series creator, current CEO of Grezzo] took a look at it the other day. That’s how far we’ve come, so I hope you’ll look forward to it. We still have a long way to go in development… We’re preparing to release it on consoles, and we’d be glad if you can wait for it.”

This news is reassuring as a long fan of the series, and the prospect of seeing a brand new original console Mana title in this day and age is quite a thrilling thought. For now, though, we must wait for further developments into this mystery project.
