The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Announced With Special Edition Joy-Con
Nintendo announced that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will launch on Nintendo Switch on July 16, 2021.
The developer premiered gameplay for the updated Wii title during their Nintendo Direct and introduced two Special Edition Joy-Con controllers that feature the Hylian Shield and Master Sword.
The developer also showed off how players will use the Joy-Con to control the sword and shield independently, a gimmick that was once used with the Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck. Players will need to switch the Right Joy-Con to attack or use the Left Joy-Con to block enemy attacks. Players can also use the Switch without the gimmick by utilizing the right thumbstick to control Link’s sword. Players will have full control over Link’s action using button controls, which is a first for the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword initially launched on Wii in 2011 and features gameplay where players will travel to various dungeons via a flying bird name Loftwing. Interestingly, the dungeons and layout of the adventure are very Zelda-esque as it retains many classic Zelda systems and mechanics, which some liked and some didn’t at the time.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the game’s development.
