The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie Introduces Combat Mechanics & Exploration; New Screenshots
Following the latest trailer for The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, publisher NIS America updated the game’s official website, detailing the various game systems players can anticipate.
Firstly, the Trails to Walk structure allows players to experience three concurrent character-focused narratives that can be switched between at any time. The three protagonists, Rean, Lloyd, and C, all experience unique events that all coalesce at the journey’s end. Some of the same events may even play out, but from different perspectives. However, chapter progression relies on you completing every route’s available segments.
Regarding combat, Trails into Reverie introduces United Fronts. Using the Trails of Cold Steel saga’s link system, at least five characters unite their efforts while expending the Assault Gauge (AG) to perform devastating attacks, Arts, and rejuvenating heals. The efficacy of these techniques will also amplify depending on the number of participating party members.
Bravery Points (BP) from the latter two Trails of Cold Steel games have returned, enabling the usages of Brave Orders, Rushes, and Bursts. Additionally, BP is restored via United Fronts.
The Reverie Corridor comprises a vast degree of this entry’s content. Unlocked after a bit of story progression, players can explore a randomly generated dungeon consisting of numerous floors housing countless treasure chests, Quartz, and other materials for gameplay benefits. Characters from every story route eventually unite in the Corridor too, allowing for unprecedented party customization options.
This locale also boasts a currency unique to itself, special shards. These items enact various boons, such as heightening stats, including BP and AG points. Moreover, making notable strides throughout the Corridor by defeating boss-like enemies will grant Sealing Stones used to unlock minigames and side events titled Daydreams. Playable characters exclusive to the Corridor can also be received via Sealing Stones.
As you explore the Reverie Corridor, you’ll encounter a number of Void Spires, obstacles initiating all-out fights dubbed Shuffle Scuffles. Random characters not in your current party setup will arrive during these segments, requiring on-the-fly strategies. Then, victory will provide substantial rewards. Lastly, gates found in the Corridor will lead to Dreamland Hills, a series of areas seemingly outside containing many enemies and bonuses to discover.
