The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero Reveals ESRB Teen Rating; Jiggling Breasts, Gambling & Drugs

ESRB has revealed its rating for the upcoming Western localization of The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero by publisher NIS America and developer Nihon Falcom. The title is rated T for Teen, and a lengthy description justifying the rating was also provided, viewable below:

This is a role-playing game in which players assume the role of a detective in a fictional police department. From a top-down perspective, players explore various locations while engaging in turn-based tactical battles with enemies (e.g., criminals, robots). Players select attack moves from a menu as characters use swords, pistols, and special attacks to defeat enemies. Combat is accompanied by dwindling hit points/health bars, cries of pain, and occasional gunfire. Some female characters are designed with revealing outfits (e.g., deep cleavage) and jiggling breasts; one scene references a character’s chest size (e.g., “With that chest, I bet the boys will hardly be able to take their eyes off you”; “C’mon…lemme just…give ’em a little squeeze. It won’t hurt, I swear. It’ll be the opposite!”). The storyline often references a fictional substance called Gnosis, which is described as a “drug” and “the real serious kind”; the drug is depicted as blue or red pills in baggies or bottles, and some characters are seen unconscious after using the pills. During the course of the game, players can visit a casino and use in-game currency to wager on games of roulette, poker, blackjack, and slot machines. The words “bullsh*t” and “a*s” appear in the dialogue.

Trails from Zero 3

Trails from Zero has players take control of protagonist Lloyd Bannings and the rest of the Special Support Section as they aid the citizens of Crossbell City with various tasks and gradually uncover a deep-seated corruption at the heart of the city with criminality at its core.

Alongside the strategical turn-based combat fans have expected from the series, the addition of cooperative attacks with party members makes the bonds between the Special Support Section an active ingredient in combat potential. This release boasts a High-Speed mode, which prior localized Trails entries contain. This functionality allows players to speed past cutscenes, combat, and exploration for whatever reasons they deem fit.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is releasing for Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam on September 27, 2022.
