SNK has announced the definitive version of The King of Fighters XIII, titled The King of Fighters XIII Global Match. It will receive an open beta test on PlayStation 4 in the Summer of 2023. Additionally, this version of the game which is also confirmed for Nintendo Switch will feature rollback netcode for an immensely improved online experience.
The King of Fighters XIII was previously only available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, mobile devices, Arcade, and PC. The title was ambitious as it removed the Guard Attack, the Critical Counter, and the Clash System from the previous entry with the EX Mode, Hyper Drive Mode, and Drive Cancel, encouraging further combo variation and player experimentation. Regarding the story, this game takes place after The King of Fighters XI and concludes the third story arc initiated in The King of Fighters 2003.
