The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match Final Edition Now Available for PS4; 64 Characters & Rollback

Alongside the announcement of incoming Team DLC for The King of Fighters XV, SNK also announced that The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match Final Edition is now available for PlayStation 4. This updated re-release of the classic fighting title features a variety of new features and modernized enhancements to please veterans and prospective newcomers.

Players can look forward to a new “Ultimate Mode” system and game balance adjustments, though they aren’t yet specified. Challenge Mode and Practice Mode will also be added, with the latter providing expected functionalities. Further, perhaps most notable is that this game boasts rollback netcode, a feature that has become a norm for most fighting games to include in this day and age. It allows for smoother and more responsive online play for all parties involved.

Online lobbies can also be formed for up to 9 players, with a Spectator Mode incorporated. Moreover, battles have replay incorporation, allowing players to witness noteworthy matches and moments, and matchmaking has increased customizability.
