The King of Fighters ’98 Athena Asamiya Receiving BISHOUJO Statue Via Kotobukiya; Summer 2023 Release

Figure developer Kotobukiya has announced that Athena Asamiya’s The King of Fighters ’98 iteration will be receiving a Bishoujo statue in Summer 2023. The host’s official website and Twitter announcement below depict the artwork of Shunya Yamashita that will reflect the product. But, of course, she is a rather popular and beloved character, so I can’t say I’m surprised.

The King of Fighters XV features some colorful graphics that allow the team to be a bit more playful with the roster and telegraph movesets easier, which is needed for such a technical fighting game as this. In addition, the game will feature a main campaign that revolves around Shun’ei and how he acquired his mysterious powers at a young age. The game will also have a story for other characters on the roster.

SNK has been amping up the hype for the game’s eventual release with several character reveals and trailers showcasing their varied movesets, aesthetics, and music. It is clear that the team is dedicating all their workforce to making this fighter as qualitative as possible, so hopefully, its delay will prove to be fruitful.

The King of Fighters XV is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC-via Windows 10, Steam, and the Epic Games Store on February 17, 2022.
