The Cruel King and the Great Hero Gets March 2022 Release Date for PS4 and Switch in New Gameplay Trailer

NIS America has shared a new trailer for The Cruel King and the Great Hero and announced its western release date. Developed by Nippon Ichi Software with illustrations by Sayaka Oda (The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince), the RPG with sidescrolling sections will be available for PlayStation 4 and Switch on March 1st, 2022. It’ll be released in Europe on March 4th, 2022.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero tells the story of a young girl called Yuu, who is the daughter of a great hero. However, due to various circumstances, she was raised by a dragon in the forest. As she gets older, she is also destined to become a hero. The sad side of the story is that this will also eventually spell the end of her relationship with her foster father.

Yuu’s journey will have her fighting many monsters and finding treasures. Yuu won’t be alone though, as there are some companions she can meet along the way and even the Dragon King will be closely looking after Yuu’s journey.

It’ll also be important for her to help some of the forest inhabitants as the area is filled with friendly monsters. Helping them out will give useful rewards to Yuu and these “Acts of Kindness”, as the game puts it, work as sidequests that can expand the adventure a little.
