The Cruel King and the Great Hero Coming West for PS4 and Switch in 2022
NIS America has announced the western release of The Cruel King and the Great Hero. The sidescroller RPG developed by Nippon Ichi Software will be available in English for PS4 and Switch early 2022.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero tells the story of a young girl called Yuu who was raised by a dragon. She dreams of becoming a hero like her father and so she goes on a bunch of adventures.
As she faces multiple enemies and dangerous environments, the dragon helps her out occasionally. However, he’s the Cruel King who was once a terrifying nemesis of the girl’s father.
As the girl grows up, Cruel King won’t be able to hide the truth about the past much longer. This will eventually force both of them to face new trials.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero features a storybook-inspired artstyle by childhood storybooks. The project is written and illustrated by Sayaka Oda, who also worked on The Liar Princess and The Blind Prince.
As the player explores the areas, it’ll be possible to find hidden items. They will unlock illustrations, character profiles and other goodies for the game gallery.
The game will have Japanese audio and English text. Also, its theme song is by Akiko Shikata. Check out the announcement trailer:
