Otome visual novel The Cloud Dream of the Nine, aka Dream9, is now available in English on Steam. The game was originally released by Korean developer NeoAlice in 2014, but the planned English localization failed to materialize until it suddenly appeared in early access on Steam earlier this month.
Dream9 is now out of early access with a 20% launch discount and features English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese translations.
The Cloud Dream of the Nine is a gender-flipped version of the novel of the same name, a 17th-century Buddhist work, and one of the classics of Korean literature. The story follows protagonist Yang Soyu, daughter of the fairy god, who’s rejected by her village because of her parentage. After her house burns down and her childhood friend Chaeyoon goes missing, she sets off on a journey to find him, in the process forming bonds with eight other potential love interests.
The Cloud Dream of the Nine features full Korean voice acting by voice actors otome fans might recognize from other games, including Lee Ho-san (Mystic Messenger, Mr Love: Queen’s Choice), Shin Yong-woo (Mystic Messenger), and Sim Gyuhyeok (Mystic Messenger, Mystic Code, Beyond Eden). The main game is about 50 hours long, and a side story DLC, A new beginning of a dream, is also available on Steam.
