The Caligula Effect: Overdose PS5 Edition Announced by NIS America

NIS America has announced The Caligula Effect: Overdose will receive a PlayStation 5 edition in 2023. FuRyu’s RPG was originally developed for the PS Vita, with Overdose being a full remake of the title to better realize the developers’ vision. This enhanced edition came West in 2019 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Switch.

The Caligula Effect tells the story of a group of people trying to break free from the false security and happiness provided by a virtual reality. After the protagonist realizes the truth, he and a group of other students create the Go-Home Club and try to gather other friends under their banner.

As a turn-based RPG, the game features a unique “Imaginary Chain” system of coordinating characters’ actions and their timings, predicting trajectories and combo effects before making the move. As the player helps others break free from the falsity of the world, over 500 characters can be recruited and used in battles.

The Overdose edition also included the option to betray the Go-Home Club, doing extra stories focused on the Ostinato Musicians (the game’s villains) and siding with them during the final moments of the story. The female version of the protagonist wasn’t available in the Vita version either.

Pre-ordering the title from NIS America’s storefront will grant an exclusive 5-art card set:
