Rebel Wolves has confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker will feature a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X at launch. The option will be added through the game’s Day 1 patch.
Performance Mode was already in development, but testing had not progressed far enough for the team to commit to including it at launch. However, the studio says it is now confident that the 60 FPS option will be ready on Day 1.
On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, players will have three graphics options: Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS, Balanced Mode targeting 40 FPS, and Quality Mode targeting 30 FPS.
PlayStation 5 Pro will offer the same three frame-rate targets, along with additional visual improvements. Specific details regarding those enhancements were not provided.
Xbox Series S, meanwhile, will target 30 FPS, with no Performance or Balanced modes announced for the console.
The Blood of Dawnwalker takes place in 14th-century Europe, during the Black Death. Vampires and other creatures of the night exploit this societal weakness, seeking to claim freedom, causing history to be forever altered.
The protagonist, Coen, is a young man who has become a Dawnwalker, navigating life between the fine lines of day and night, with player choice enabling him to either embrace his humanity or harness his cursed powers to save his family. The developer has emphasized that every action, and even inaction, matters, making every manner of choice crucial to the overall experience.
The combat features various assets at your disposal, including swords and magic. Additionally, Coen’s form changes throughout the day and night, each offering distinct weaknesses and strengths. The open world is handcrafted with various biomes, all built in Unreal Engine 5.
The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store on September 3, 2026.
