Tetsuya Nomura Plays PowerWash Simulator, Daydreams About Cleaning Things in His Games

Square Enix and FuturLab have announced that PowerWash Simulator has received its Final Fantasy VII-themed DLC on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10, Xbox Game Pass for console and PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

Titled the “Midgar Special Pack,” players will receive five new cleaning jobs in Midgar. These tasks comprise remedying messes made by familiar groups and figures in Final Fantasy VII, including Heidegger, Hojo’s tragic research specimens, and Corneo’s subordinates.

As for what will be cleaned specifically, various Shinra vehicles, the popular Scorpion Sentinel boss, the Shinra Building’s Mako Energy Exhibit, the Airbuster boss, and even the beloved Seventh Heaven bar will need to be power-washed.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake Project Producer, Yoshinori Kitase, shared the following comment regarding this DLC’s launch:

“We designed Midgar, the city of Mako in 1997. Who would have thought that we would be returning to these iron buildings in 2023 to wash off all the oil and dirt with a power washer? Now let’s get to work, over 25 years of filth isn’t going away without a fight.”

The Final Fantasy VII Character Designer and Final Fantasy VII Remake Project Creative Director, Tetsuya Nomura, shared the following statements regarding this DLC’s release:

“When I heard about the proposal for a collab, I was quite busy with various other collabs and reviews, but I was especially excited about this one. I had just been playing PowerWash Simulator and was daydreaming about cleaning things from my titles. My immediate response was “let’s wash the entire Shinra building,” Unfortunately, that seemed to be a bit difficult, but the final line-up is exciting, nonetheless. This is something I have been looking forward to a lot and hope everyone has a great time!”

The Lead Designer of FuturLab, Dan Chequer, stated the following:

“It’s been an incredible privilege for the PowerWash Simulator team to recreate vehicles, locations and bosses from one of gaming’s most iconic titles. We’re all huge fans of the Final Fantasy franchise and hope our players enjoy cleaning the jobs down as much as we’ve enjoyed covering them in every type of dirt from bio to mako.”

The Director of Indie Publishing at Square Enix, Tímea Edvi, stated the following:

“We’re so excited to be working with one of the most iconic franchises in gaming history for the Midgar Special Pack. We knew that we wanted to do something really big to say thank you to the amazing PowerWash Simulator community for all their support – we can’t wait to see people playing it!”
