Tetris 99 Reveals Animal Crossing: New Horizons Collaboration: 13th Maximus Cup Event

Nintendo revealed a special event for Nintendo Switch Online members playing Tetris 99. From May 15, 12 am PT through May 18, 11:59 pm PT, players will be able to earn points based on their placement in each match played throughout the event. Once players have earned 100 event points, they’ll unlock a special theme inspired by Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Tetris 99 isn’t your typical Tetris game as it puts you against 99 other players. Winning matches isn’t just putting blocks down at the right time, it takes speed, skill, and strategy to knock out the competition and become the last player standing. There is the option to target opponents by sending them Garbage Blocks, but doing so could lead to a big consequence: your rivals targeting you back.

The game includes a variety of online modes as well as the paid Big Block DLC, which adds two new modes to the game, both of which can be played offline, plus additional offline local multiplayer modes will be headed to the game later this year.
