Tales of Luminaria Ending Service July 2022; Development Team Message Shared

Bandai Namco has announced that their latest mobile Tales of game, Tales of Luminaria, will be concluding service on July 19, 2022, PDT. This title began at the end of 2021, leading it lasting less than a full year.

The development team shared a message stating that while they possessed ambitious intentions to make a free-to-play Tales of mobile experience that would be accessible to fans worldwide, they could simply “not do enough.” So, while specific reasons for the game’s cancellation have not been provided, it is safe to assume that satisfactory profits were not being made when coupled with the title’s high budget for voice talent and other factors.

The team also clarified that the remaining story episodes will remain untold, though an “Episode Final” is planned to be released, revealing why Hugo decided to side with the Empire. Aside from that, there are no stated plans to tell the rest of the narrative in any way. Additionally, a digital archive is planned to be released containing illustrations, costumes, and other facets that fans can enjoy post-cancelation. Finally, the soundtrack will also receive an official release at a currently undisclosed time.
