Tales of Arise Will Be a “More Mature” Narrative Direction for the Series; Western Digital Editions Revealed
Bandai Namco revealed new details for the RPG adventure Tales of Arise laughing worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on September 10, 2021.
The newest entry of the series will have several updated features compared to its predecessors including art direction, battle systems, and will even focus on a more mature story.
“We want Tales of Arise to represent a new milestone for the Tales of franchise,” said Yusuke Tomizawa, Producer on Tales of Arise from Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. “The game has a new artistic direction, making the most out of the Unreal Engine and our newly developed “Atmospheric Shader” to push the graphics and quality and make players feel like they are in a painting. With a story that is more mature and hits on more essential themes than previous games, we hope players will be fully immersed in Alphen and Shionne’s journey. We can’t wait for you to be able to play the game later this year.”
Tales of Arise advances the graphics with this new “Atmospheric Shader,” which is meant to present the world as if it were a hand-drawn painting. Further, the combat has evolved allowing for a better sense of spectacle and direct player feedback based upon their actions. The graphics, combat system, characters, and story all work together to present a vivid and realized world that the developer hopes will immerse players.

Tales of Arise is set on the planet Dahna, where reverence has always been given to the planet in the sky, Rena, which is where the land of the righteous and divine lie. In this world, stories have been handed down for generations and have become the truth, masking the reality for the people of Dahna. For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, and in that time has pillaged the planet of its resources and stripped the people of their dignity and freedom.
