Bandai Namco has released a new video message celebrating the Tales of series’ 30th anniversary, featuring remarks from General Producer Yusuke Tomizawa. The message marks December 15, 2025, as the official 30th anniversary of the long-running JRPG franchise and offers a look at what fans can expect as the celebration continues.
Tomizawa opens the video by thanking players around the world for supporting the series over the past three decades. “Today, December 15, 2025, the Tales of series celebrates its 30th anniversary,” he says. “To all the fans around the world who have continued to support the series, I would like to express my sincere gratitude once again.” He adds that while the 30th anniversary campaign began in December 2024, this marks the true start of the anniversary year, with more updates planned moving forward.
As part of the message, Tomizawa revisits the recently revealed 30th anniversary key visual illustrated by ufotable. The artwork is based on the anniversary theme, translated as “Now, once again, into the story,” and brings together characters from titles celebrating milestone anniversaries between 2025 and 2026. This includes characters from games that have recently been released as remasters, with the visual meant to reflect the idea of being invited back into the series’ stories.
Remasters remain a major focus for the franchise. Tomizawa explains that the team wants to make it easier for more players worldwide to experience older Tales of titles and is continuing work on its remaster project. While three remastered titles have already been announced, he notes that these were relatively newer entries and confirms that the team plans to move further back into the series’ history starting in 2026, bringing back older, well-known titles.
Beyond remasters, Tomizawa also directly addresses the future of the series. He emphasizes that creating brand-new Tales of games remains a priority, stating that new stories and characters are central to the franchise. Although modern game development requires significantly more time than in the past, he reassures fans that development on completely new entries has not stopped and will continue going forward. While no specific announcements were shared, he encourages fans to look forward to what comes next for the series.
The message closes with Tomizawa once again thanking fans for their ongoing support as the team moves into the second half of the 30th anniversary celebration and beyond.
