Switch Release of Sega Genesis Classics Coming This Winter

Sega only just announced Sega Ages last week but it looks like they still aren’t done with their retro title re-releases as Sega Genesis Classics is set to come out on Nintendo Switch this winter, both physically and digitally.

Sega Genesis Classics was originally released on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 earlier this year, but the Switch release will have all the fun features we’ve come to expect from the console. This includes the same screen local co-op mode and the ability to use individual Joy-Con controllers, on top of the pre-existing collection features like online multiplayer, achievement systems, mirror modes, rewind and save states to enhance the player’s experience.

The collection features titles such as; Phantasy Star IV, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Virtua Fighter 2, Sword of Vermillion and Ristar.

Sega Genesis Classics will launch on the Switch sometime this winter and is already up for pre-order from U.S retailers.

Author’s take: I haven’t played most of these games so this feels like the definitive way to get a hold of them and enjoy them to their fullest. At the moment, this is how I’m going to be playing ‘Gunstar Heroes’. That’s been on my to-play list for a while.
