SEGA and developer GPTRACK50 have released a new “Deep Bite” video for Stupid Never Dies, this time focusing on the music behind the upcoming 3D action RPG. The game launches for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on October 21, 2026. A free Stupid Never Dies: First Bite demo is currently available on PlayStation 5 and Steam.
Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi explains that music played a major role in development from the beginning. Rather than composing the soundtrack after the rest of the game had taken shape, GPTRACK50 started with protagonist Davy’s theme song and used that musical direction to help define the tone of the project.
Pop-punk became the foundation because of the game’s boy-meets-girl story setup and the team’s interest in music they listened to when they were younger. From there, the developers expanded the soundtrack by thinking about what kind of music the game’s different characters and enemies might create themselves.
That approach led to what GPTRACK50 calls “Neo Pop Punk,” combining pop-punk with metal, rock, electronic music, and traditional Japanese instrumentation.
Music also changes depending on what Davy is doing. Exploration, battles, and rest areas have different musical states, while Davy’s Mall home base uses lo-fi tracks. The soundtrack shifts alongside the pace of gameplay rather than relying on one fixed style throughout.
The publisher has also shared official music videos for the opening theme, “Stupid Never Dies,” and the ending theme, “Restless, Reckless, Never Die, Fearless.”
Stupid Never Dies follows Davy, a timid zombie living near the bottom of monster society inside a dungeon ruled by monsters. His goal is to bring Julia, a frozen human girl, back to life.
Combat centers on aggressive attacks, enemy targeting, and Davy’s ability to consume monsters using the Style Eat system. Doing so restores his body and lets him take abilities from enemies such as werewolves, harpies, and vampires. More than 11 styles are available.
Progression also takes cues from roguelikes. Davy starts each dungeon run at level one, while enemies defeated during earlier attempts increase future growth and experience gains. Players can also collect Over Technology and use it to modify Davy’s arms, legs, and head.
