Psychological Thriller ‘Stray Souls’ Confirms October Release Date Right Before Holloween

Versus Evil confirmed that the Jukai Studio-developed psychological thriller Stray Souls will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on October 25, 2023.

PC players will be able to purchase the Stray Souls: Cult Classic Edition for $39.99, which includes the official soundtrack and Sacred Tome artbook. The soundtrack features legendary guest composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) and veteran indie composer Pete Wicher.

Stray Souls has players step into the shoes of Daniel, a teenage boy who unexpectedly inherits a house from his estranged grandmother. As he settles into his new abode, Daniel crosses paths with the enigmatic Martha, who possesses an uncanny knowledge of the house’s history. However, as night descends, the dwelling reveals a web of dark secrets intertwined with both the house and Daniel’s own past, secrets that seem inescapable.

This game melds the cherished elements of Japanese survival horror games with innovative features. It incorporates various randomized systems that continuously alter elements such as enemy encounters, item placements, paranormal phenomena, and even weather conditions. This dynamic design ensures that no two playthroughs are identical, adding to the game’s replay value. Additionally, “Stray Souls” boasts a haunting musical score created by the renowned composer Akira Yamaoka, known for his work on the Silent Hill series. Leveraging the capabilities of Metahuman technology and Unreal Engine 5, the game brings its characters and environments to life, immersing players in an unsettling narrative filled with dread and despair.
