Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin DLC Will Allow Fans to Play As Jack’s Party In Single-Player

The official Twitter account for the Team Ninja-developed Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin has announced that in the upcoming Trials of the Dragon King DLC, players will be able to use characters other than Jack, namely Sophia, Ash, Jed, and Neon in single-player.

The particulars of how this will work have not been clarified yet. Still, there will assuredly be no real gameplay changes since the party members only have access to a select number of Jobs, as opposed to Jack’s full arsenal. The primary benefit of this update will most likely be the opportunity for fans to have control of their more preferred characters, gameplay utility aside.

An iteration of this idea was already possible via cooperative play, but players have never had the chance to use characters outside Jack in single-player.

The initial tweet announcing this significant development is viewable below:

Throughout Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, players control protagonist Jack Garland as he and his allies, Jed, Ash, Sophia, and Neon, aim to eliminate Chaos at its root and bring peace to the realm of Cornelia. However, despite the apparent simplicity of the task before them, their memories are haphazard and incomplete, leading to questioning motivations.

The gameplay is Nioh-like, with a variety of loot to obtain for better gear and several swappable Jobs representative of the Final Fantasy franchise at large. Multiplayer is also present.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is now available worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
