Sci-Fi Visual Novel ‘Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog’ Free Demo Available Now on Steam

Astrolabe Games announced that a free demo is available for the Space Colony Studios-developed sci-fi visual novel adventure game, Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog, on PC via Steam. The game is currently in development to release this year.

The demo introduces players to the characters and setting as you’re allowed to play the first hour of the game. A survey will be available after the demo to collect feedback from players. Those who complete the demo and survey will receive an exclusive feature called “Jukebox,” which allows players to play their favorite songs anytime during gameplay.

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog takes place in the future (or past), Planetary Calendar 214, four years after the end of the Solar War. Players assume the role of the newest member of the Gun-Dog patrol ship after the loss of his previous crew. Players are tasked with playing the security role on the ship against an unknown assailant. Through character interaction, conspiracies and vendettas emerge to make this a much more difficult task than anticipated.

The game is a visual novel adventure in the style of a classic PC-9800 title. It features a green screen aesthetic to deliver an “era-accurate” adventure for players. Similar to point-and-click adventures, players are able to navigate the Gun-Dog ship and examine details found throughout various rooms. Further, players can interact with other crew members to collect information that reveals important clues about the mystery at hand.

This will be the first installment in the Stories from Sol series.
