At the WePlay 2025 Expo in Shanghai, the Steins;Gate Re:Boot development team discussed the title at great length. Producer Tatsuya Matsubara, scenario writer Naotaka Hayashi, and vocalist Kanako Itou were all in attendance, too.
The team opened the showcase with Kanako Itou performing “Hacking to the Gate” live, followed by the debut of new in-game footage. They highlighted the remake’s newly drawn character sprites, noting that Kurisu’s artwork was created at an extremely high resolution, 2743×9605, with in-game display at 1000 pixels tall.
The story script uses Steins;Gate Elite as its foundation, though Re:Boot adds a brand-new ending on top of the original game’s six routes.
To close out the event, Kanako Itou performed “Skyclad Observer” and confirmed a new theme for the remake’s additional ending.
Hayashi briefly mentioned that he and Chiyomaru Shikura have already started work on the next entry in the SciADV series, asking fans to look forward to that along with Re:Boot.
