16-bit Action Platformer ‘Steel Assault’ Releasing on PlayStation and Xbox Next Month

Tribute Games announced that the Zenovia Interactive action platformer Steel Assault will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on June 15, 2023. The game was initially released in 2021 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Steel Assault puts players in the role of Tar Takahashi, a resistance soldier on a revenge mission against the dictator who lords over the ashes. Actions include punching and whipping enemies across various maps. The beat-em-up style mirrors retro sidescrolling action games, and the team emphasizes this experience with the options for a 4:3 aspect ratio and CRT filters.

Game designer and Zenovia Interactive founder Sri Kankanahalli precisely designed Steel Assault with the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio in order to keep the action speedy and surprising. The soundtrack is also retro with FM-synthesized tunes with just enough industrial rock and chiptune will surely please the bit-crunched music fans out there.
