Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Details Five Combat Stances; Single-Blade, Double-Blade, Dual-Blade, Cross-Guard & Blaster

IGN has shared new exclusive coverage for the upcoming Respawn-developed action-adventure Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, detailing the combat stances players will be able to utilize throughout their experience.

Evolving from the two useable stances from this sequel’s predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Suvivor has a total of five. When the title begins, players will have access to three stances; Single-Blade, Double-Bladed, and Dual-Blade. The Double-Bladed stance, also referred to as the Twin stance, was in the first game but not fully fleshed out, so its utilization in this new entry was the central point of initiation for development. Cal becomes a glass cannon, dealing immense damage swiftly. Additionally, it’s the only stance in the game that allows for animation canceling at the start of an attack, enabling reliance on reflexes.

The Single-Blade stance is the most balanced all-rounder, while the Dual-Blade stance is ideal for contexts requiring crowd control. Alternatively, the new stances are Cross-Guard and Blaster. The former comprises a hilted lightsaber and is described as the most powerful but also the most slow, with the least range. On the other hand, Blaster uses its namesake, incorporating melee and range into its toolkit, arguably making it the most unconventional stance.

Lastly, every stance has its own skill tree, alongside force abilities and survival skills. The video then concludes with a note that only two stances will be equippable at a given time.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor puts players in the role of Cal Kestis once again, five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. No longer a Padawan, Cal has grown into a Jedi Knight and continues his fight against the Empire. Players will experience an enhanced cinematic combat system which includes Lightsaber combos and force abilities. There are ability upgrades that show Cal continues to find his power, with an added focus on exploration where players can navigate dungeons and solve light puzzles to progress.

We’ll keep you updated on the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
