Star Ocean The Second Story R Producer Shares Message Thanking Fans & Newcomers for Their Support

Following the launch of Star Ocean The Second Story R, the game’s producer, Kei Komaki, shared a message to fans thanking them for their continued support of the title. Further, he recommends pointing prospective newcomers to the demo.

Star Ocean The Second Story R features fully voiced event scenes with the original voice cast, a newly arranged soundtrack by original composer Motoi Sakuraba with new songs, including some with a live band, as well as the new Break and Assault Action combat mechanics.

Players can anticipate two selectable protagonists, Claude and Rena, akin to the recently released Star Ocean The Divine Force. Claude is a Pangalactic Federation officer and son of the legendary Ronyx Kenny, causing him to have internal strife regarding his identity. During a mission, Claude’s ego gets the better of him as he’s transported to an underdeveloped planet and spotted by Rena, confusing him for the Hero of Light.

The Earth, Galaxy, and Universe difficulties are implemented. Further, the developer is Gemdrops, known for porting Star Ocean: The Second Evolution to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan. The original game was developed by tri-Ace.

Hello everyone!

This is Kei Komaki, producer of STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R. I am so glad that STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R launched successfully on the 2nd of November.

Since its release, we have received so many kind words from players who are enjoying the game, both in Japan and around the world. Thank you to all the fans who have shown their support for this franchise. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

I cannot express my gratitude to you all. We have heard from a lot of players that this is their first time playing a STAR OCEAN title, and we are so happy to hear it! If you know anybody who hasn’t played STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R yet, please feel free to point them towards the demo, and give them your recommendation.

Nothing would make me happier, as a member of the team, than for more and more people to play and experience this title from the beloved STAR OCEAN franchise.
