Square Enix announced that they will shut down the western servers for their mobile RPG Star Ocean: Anamnesis.
The publisher announced in a statement that the service will conclude on November 5, 2019, at 9:00 pm PT. In the statement, the team thanks all the players who put time into the game and “traveled the galaxy” as they built up their own crew full of Star Ocean cast members. The team has also announced that in-app purchases have been disabled and Gems already purchased prior to the end of Gem sales will still be usable until the end of service. Players will continue to obtain all Star Ocean characters, including the holiday versions of the characters, by playing through the respective missions.
They conclude by saying:
Thank you for playing Star Ocean: Anamnesis and being part of this journey.
Star Ocean: Anamnesis was a mobile RPG that told the story of an original cast of characters who find themselves fighting for their lives to survey out in the galaxy. The game’s battle system was a fast action version of the series’ battle system. Throughout the game, players would meet characters from other Star Ocean titles who can join the party.
The Japanese servers will still be up and will not be shutting down.
