Star Fox 2, Kirby Super Star and More to be Added to the Nintendo Switch Online Collection

Nintendo of America has uploaded a video detailing some of the upcoming titles to be added to their Nintendo Switch Online collection. For those not in the know, this collection is a compilation of classic NES and SNES era titles that can be played for free on the Nintendo Switch – provided you have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

The new titles being added are:

  • Star Fox 2 (SNES) – A first-party title previously only released on the Super NES Classic Edition in 2017. It was completed for release in 1995 and then canceled after the graphics were deemed inferior to those on the soon to launch Nintendo 64.
  • Super Punch-Out!! (SNES) – Released in 1994, this is technically sort of the fourth game in the Punch-Out!! series. The first two were arcade games before the series was ported to console. I forgot Nintendo was in arcades business.
  • Kirby Super Star (SNES) – This Kirby game released in 1996 has eight different gameplay modes, two of which are multiplayer. If you haven’t played this already, you’ve probably seen a lot of its content in Super Smash Bros. in some capacity.
  • Breath of Fire II (SNES) – A turn-based RPG released by Capcom in 1994. Unlike the original Breath of Fire, published by Squaresoft in the west, this sequel was localized and published by Capcom. Ubisoft got to release it in Europe, though.
  • Journey to Silius (NES) – A side-scrolling shoot ’em up that was initially supposed to be based on the Terminator film, Sunsoft lost the rights mid-development before it was released in 1990. The game is famous for having one of the best soundtracks on the console.
  • Crystalis – A classic action RPG released by SNK back in 1990. Two of its characters are based upon characters in the Psycho Solider arcade game, which would make their way into the King Of Fighters series. (NES)

These titles will be added to the service on the 12th of December. You can find the accompanying video below.

This brings the total amount of games on the service up to 24 for SNES titles and 48 for NES titles. The Nintendo Switch Online service is priced at one month for $3.99, three months for $7.99 or 12 months for $19.99
