Team Tetrapod has announced that Staffer Retro: A Supernatural Mystery Quest will launch for PC via Steam on July 23. Ahead of release, the supernatural deduction adventure will participate in Steam Next Fest, where players will be able to access additional content from the game’s six-episode campaign.
A new beta version of the demo will make the game’s second episode available beginning June 15 during Steam Next Fest. Players can access the build through the existing Steam demo by opting into a beta branch. Team Tetrapod is also hosting a campaign tied to the demo that will distribute free game keys to participants.
Staffer Retro is the fourth entry in the developer’s Staffer series. The story follows Verita Retro, a young woman living in Sicily who inherits her family’s retro shop and hopes for a quiet life. After an unexpected incident leaves her with overwhelming debt, she becomes entangled in a mystery connected to the origins of supernatural abilities known as Skills.
The setting expands on the broader Staffer universe, where supernatural abilities are powered by a phenomenon known as Mana. Individuals capable of using these powers are called Staffers, while specialized tools known as Staffs allow those abilities to be activated. Verita’s investigation gradually pulls her into the history behind these powers and the events that shaped the world around her.
The full game is expected to feature more than 30 hours of gameplay across six episodes. Each chapter includes branching outcomes determined by the player’s deductions and choices. As with previous Staffer titles, document-based investigation serves as a central mechanic. Players will gather information from conversations, exploration, maps, and a large collection of in-game documents before connecting clues to reach their own conclusions.
According to Team Tetrapod, the game contains more than 40 document types and over 100 clues to examine throughout the story. The cast features more than 21 animated characters created using Spine animation technology, with over 35 unique motions and poses used across the game’s presentation.
The announcement follows Team Tetrapod’s earlier demo release, which introduced players to Verita’s story and the title’s deduction-focused gameplay. The updated Steam Next Fest build offers a first look at content beyond the opening chapter ahead of the game’s July launch.
