Square Enix Shares Live Performance of “Ardent Rhythm” from Romancing SaGa –Minstrel Song–

Square Enix has published a clip from their Romancing SaGa Orchestra Festival Live 2022, featuring one of the most iconic tracks from Romancing SaGa –Minstrel Song–, “Ardent Rhythm.”

This is honestly one of my favorite tracks in gaming, as it’s entirely distinct from the typical battle fare, further bolstering the niche yet robust identity of the SaGa franchise as a whole. This live performance is also rather lively; everyone gets really into it, with the audience clapping alongside the beat.

This was the fourth title in the franchise and an essential step in the series’ evolution. Back on the Super Famicom (the Japanese Super Nintendo), it introduced a non-linear structure to the series and allowed players to pick one of eight protagonists, each with their own background.

Although your character has their own story, exploring the world can vary wildly depending on the player’s choices. Romancing SaGa also features the iconic Glimmer system, allowing characters to learn new skills during battle depending on which weapons and skills they use.

While the original SNES game never made it to the West, its PS2 remake came over. In Japan, this was called Romancing SaGa –Minstrel Songand it’s the version that has been remastered.
