Square Enix Shares a New ‘Just Cause’ Title is in Development

During the Square Enix Holding report, the company shared some information about upcoming titles in development, one of which is a new Just Cause game.

Following the Embracer Group acquisition announcement of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, and Square Enix Montréal, many were wondering what would happen to the Just Cause IP. Well, I technically wasn’t because I was more considered with the Legacy of Kain series, but I’m sure some people cared.

Regardless, the company shared, “we want to focus on creating new titles that align with our strategy, including ones that leverage new IP. The JUST CAUSE franchise will remain our IP, and we are at work developing a new title in the franchise.”

It looks like they’ll be holding onto this IP, which had its latest release in 2018 as Just Cause 4. Sadly, the game received low scores, and due to various bugs and other gameplay issues. Just Cause 4 stars, Rico Rodriguez, on a mission of destruction. The idea is that players are allowed to tackle situations in the craziest of ways, but this title seemed to lose what made the series great.

We’ll keep you updated on any announcements around the Just Cause series and any other IP Square Enix is working on.
