Square Enix Shares Official Piano Cover of “Frog’s Theme” from Chrono Trigger

Square Enix has uploaded a new official cover on their music YouTube channel. Shuto Nakagawa arranged and performed “Frog’s Theme” from Chrono Trigger on piano, initially composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. Additionally, Junichiro”ojjy”Ojim recorded and mixed the performance.

In case you missed them, official guitar covers of “Robo’s Theme” and “Wind Scene” from the same game were shared earlier this year.

Frog is a popular and somewhat tragic character in Chrono Trigger, with this piano cover befitting the graveness of his continued plight that permeates his existence. While the original song has a clear sense of triumph, this alteration in instrumentation gives the track a fitting sense of melancholy.
