Square Enix Expands Stay Home and Play Campaign With Game Bundles Where 100% of Proceeds Go to Charity
In March, Square Enix kicked off their Stay Home and Play campaign by releasing Tomb Rairder (2013) and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris for free on Steam. This was to keep players indoors during the Coronavirus outbreak. Since then, the publisher has revealed new free games, and to date, gamers have downloaded nearly 15 million copies.
To expand on this campaign, the company is continuing to request that you stay home and play, but they have now partnered with TikTok as part of their Kin Gestures program. This will come in the form of Steam Bundles that players can purchase where 100% of the proceeds go toward Food Banks and other charities in North America and Europe. They’ve also partnered with UKIEI to provide gifts of games to show their appreciation for the healthcare workers.
The company will still be announcing free games for fans as well.
In a blog post, the team shares:
As we said at the start of our campaign…gamers are part of a global community. We gamers regularly rally together online to return balance to fantasy kingdoms, recruit a team to save the universe from sci-fi threats, and indulge in healthy competition through high-octane action games. We are proud of the passion and concern our community displays and we hope that you will continue to support our Stay Home and Play initiatives.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the bundles revealed by the publisher.
