Square Enix Reveals The Talented Veteran Development Team of Dungeon Encounters
Following today’s Square Enix Tokyo Game Show 2021 event, the publisher and developer shared a blog post detailing what players can expect from Dungeon Encounters, a distinct, newly announced game releasing later this month.
Firstly, this title’s director is Hiroyuki Ito, the game designer of Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy XII, as well as the inventor of the Active Time Battle (ATB) system initially used in Final Fantasy IV. This same battle system is used as the basis for Dungeon Encounter’s combat design.
The producer is Hiroaki Kato, who was also the producer of Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, and Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Grimoire of the Rift. Furthermore, Ryoma Ito, the character designer of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Heroes of Mana, and more, is the character designer of this game too. Lastly, Nobuo Uematsu, the legendary composer known for his contributions to numerous Final Fantasy titles, is Dungeon Encounters’ composer.
Throughout this game, players will traverse a 99-floor labyrinth fraught with multitudes of danger. A 2D movement system is used to progress from floor to floor, and alongside the swiftly paced battles, every action in this title requires layers of stratagems. Parties will be built from a diverse selection of fantasy-themed characters, and they will all need to be consistently customized to overcome the onslaught of perils ahead.
