Square Enix Announces ‘NieR: Automata’ Steam Patch Upgrades Ahead of its Release This Week
Square Enix has finally announced the long-anticipated details of the upcoming patch for the Steam release of NieR: Automata. This patch was promised back in April of this year, presumably due to the severe degree of backlash this particular port of the beloved title was receiving. Unfortunately, it contained a general lack of optimization and performance, with stuttering framerate being one such notable dilemma.
The details of the announced patch have added updated UI textures, borderless video settings, anti-aliasing, fixed HDR functionality, and much, much more. One of the most noteworthy fixes is pre-rendered cutscenes being adjusted to be played in 60 frames per second with an improved bit rate. Alongside these announced fixes, the end of the patch update stated that the title will be updated with all of this aforementioned content on July 15, 2021, merely 2 days from now.
This is certainly fantastic news, though there is obviously no guarantee that this collective update will function correctly or remedy the numerous issues that have plagued this contentious port. We will simply have to wait until the patch officially arrives and see if it lives up to its promise.
You can view the entirety of the patch notes on the NieR: Automata Steam page.
Additionally, NieR: Automata is currently available for purchase on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
