In a new 30-minute Splatoon 3 Direct video presentation, Nintendo revealed all sorts of brand-new details for the upcoming game, such as new battle stages, new maneuvers, a fun assortment of new “splatterific” weapons, and an absolute truckload of quality of life improvements and new customization options compared to Splatoon 2.
The presentation also showcases new details about the Splatoon 3 game’s three main modes: the all-new single-player Story Mode, “Return of the Mammalians”; the iconic four-on-four team battles, Turf War, featuring new weapons and new and returning stages; and the revamped Salmon Run, a co-op mode in which a team of four fends off waves of enemies, which now adds giant, dangerous bosses to the mix. The broadcast also showed Deep Cut, the brand-new singing trio that will bring players to the daily stages on their Anarchy Splatcast program.
Furthermore, a free Splatoon 3 World Premiere demo will be downloadable from Nintendo eShop starting August 18, with servers opening on August 25. In the demo, you can try out the brand-new Splatfest tri-color Turf War mode before the game’s release, as well as get a feel for the game’s new mechanics and other improvements. The Splatfest itself will officially begin on August 27 at 9 AM Pacific Time and will end 12 hours later, at 9 PM Pacific Time.
Another thing to note is that if there’s save data from Splatoon 2 on Nintendo Switch, you can receive three Gold Sheldon Licenses that you can exchange for main weapons and join Anarchy Battles from the beginning of the game, all regardless of player level! You can also get matched with players that are on par with your skill level and rank.

Splatoon 3 is the brand-new sequel to Splatoon 2. In this new game in the Splatoon series, you’ll leave Inkopolis behind and head to a new region: the Splatlands. Its heart is a new city where battle-savvy Inklings and Octolings gather: Splatsville, also known as the “City of Chaos.”
Splatoon 3 introduces various features to the action-shooter series, including weapons such as the bow-weapon, customization options, and movement abilities to bring to the returning 4v4 Turf Wars matches. Splatoon 3 will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch on September 9.
