Nintendo has announced a demo of Splatoon 2 that will allow new players to try the unique third-person shooter out for free.
Though Splatoon 2 launched on Switch in 2017, constant updates from Nintendo and a strong fan base has kept the game alive. Though Nintendo announced back in July of 2019 that they would stop supporting the game with new updates and events, they surprised fans last week when they announced a one-off Splatfest would be coming to the game in late May.
Splatfests were popular Splatoon events that would split the player base into two teams and have them duke it out for victory. Splatoon 2’s first Splatfest, Ketchup vs. Mayo, will be making a return from May 22 to May 24.
In order to reinvigorate interest in Splatoon 2 and bring in some new players, a free special demo will be available to anyone with a Nintendo Online subscription from now until May 6 at 6:59 PT. The demo will allow new players to try out 4-on-4 Turf War battles, Ranked battles, and the Salmon Run co-op mode.
Those looking to purchase Splatoon 2 after playing the demo will be getting a 30% off coupon for the game that will last until the end of the special demo.
