Thunder Lotus released new gameplay for the hand-drawn adventure game, Spiritfarer, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam in 2020.
The trailer highlights a few different features within the game that all stem from the quest to make french fries. In this world, you’ll have to use sim-like systems to grow food as well as search for materials as you build up your ship.
It’s fun to see all of the lively characters who are on your ship and the different ways you can interact with them. The small task of making french fries for a character leads to being a much bigger adventure as you collect materials, cook, and expand your ship.
Spiritfarer has players take on the role of a ferry master for those who have recently become deceased. The first set of actions is to build a boat to explore the world. During gameplay, players will be able to farm, mine, fish, harvest, cook, and craft in order to make their way across the seas as you tend to the needs of your spirit friends. This is all to see them to the afterlife and it’s a rather emotional journey as you make these memories together all the while knowing one day you’ll need to let them go.
Spiritfarer is being developed by Thunder Lotus, the team behind games like Joton and Sundered, which were both gorgeous looking games. The team now plans on grabbing the emotions of players with this more relaxing journey that focuses on a heavy subject.
