Spider-Man: Miles Morales Announced For PS5, Coming Holiday 2020

During the PlayStation 5 – The Future of Gaming livestream, Sony announced Spider-Man: Miles Morales coming to PS5 Holiday 2020.

The minute long trailer opened with Miles Morales deflecting some sort of blast, slowly deteriorating his suit and revealing his face. We then saw Miles web swinging around a snowy New York City fighting enemies in what looked like a mix between in-engine gameplay and cinematic footage from cutscenes.

The trailer ended with the tagline “Be Yourself” and a release window of Holiday 2020. It has yet to be revealed if Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be an expansion to 2018’s Spider-Man or if it will be a sequel of sorts.

Fans of Insomniac’s Spider-Man will remember the introduction of Morales towards the end of the game. During the game’s DLC, The City That Never Sleeps, multiple side quests were centered around Peter Parker training Morales.

Though Morales was introduced in Marvel Comic’s Ultimate universe in 2011, he rose to popularity after being the main character of Sony Animation’s Into the Spiderverse film. In the film, Morales teamed up with multiple other Spider-Men from different universes after Peter Parker from his universe dies in battle. Though he doubts that he could be worthy of being the new Spider-Man, he learns over the course of the film that anyone can be a super hero, no matter who or what they are.

It is unclear if Spider-Man: Miles Morales will follow a similar storyline, but we’ll be there day one to find out.
