Action Roguelite ‘Source of Madness’ Shows Gameplay Ahead of 2021 PC Release

Thunderful Publishing released gameplay from the Carry Castle-developed Lavecraftian action roguelite, Source of Madness, in development for PC-via Steam for a 2021 release.

The trailer focuses on the procedurally generated nature of the action game all the enemies that await players. Further, the game is said to have AI machine learning that will challenge the player even further throughout multiple runs. The monsters inhabiting this dark world are animated using a machine learning AI. This means Source of Madness offers ever-changing landscapes to explore and new monstrosities to face on every run.

During gameplay, players will assume the role of an Acolyte as they set out on a journey to uncover the secrets of the Loam Lands and The Tower of Madness, the moon’s Citadel. This leads them to encounter powerful enemies and requires the use of close-combat magic and item-loadout management to progress. As players destroy enemies, the blood can be used to unlock new abilities, perks, and spells.

Source of Madness combines so much of what we love about cosmic horror and video games into one unholy cocktail of roguelike adventuring,” said Thunderful Head of Publishing, Dieter Shoeller. “Its procedurally generated creatures and labyrinths make it utterly unpredictable and eerie, as you encounter machine learning concoctions that feel truly one of a kind.”

We’ll keep you updated on the development of Source of Madness.
