Soulcalibur VI Gets Documentary Looking Back at Iconic Moments in the Series History

Bandai Namco released part 1 of their documentary series outlining the origins of the long-standing fighting game series Soulcalibur.

Titled Souls and Souls, this over 10-minute documentary details how the series began and what systems it brings to the fighting game community. From early on in the series, Soulcalibur has aimed to push the 3D fighting game genre to new levels. This includes refined combination controller inputs, interesting characters, and well-designed stages. The documentary also interviews popular Soulcalibur players who speak on the game’s merits and what they enjoy about the series.

Soulcalibur VI will include the usage of weapons in a battle that the series is known for while bringing it back to its roots and focusing on the events that took place in the first Soulcalibur. The game will also include guest characters such as Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher 3. A season pass has been revealed to include four additional characters, two armor packs, and an additional 100 customization items.

Soulcalibur VI will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 19.

Author’s take: I’ve always thought of Soulcalibur as a super approachable fighting game with enough depth to excite hardcore gamers. I’ve played it a few times already and I’ve always been left with great things to say about the controls and combat. The game looks absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait to see how the team has evolved the series for this new generation console space.
