Soul Hackers 2 Summoners Guide Vol. 2 Details Milady’s Character Connections, Dungeon Exploration & Demon Recon; English Captions

Atlus has released a new trailer for their upcoming turn-based JRPG, Soul Hackers 2, providing the second Summoners Guide with English closed captions. This summates a variety of new story and character information.

An entity known as Aion has predicted the world’s destruction, with Covenants, five sources of spiritual energy being the innate collective cause. These contracts are manifestations of the contact between humanity and God, with “The Great One” said to descend once all five sources unite. A group titled the Phantom Society seeks to summon the Great One, with their leader, Iron Mask, heading the charge.

Ringo then goes into further detail regarding the party member Milady, a member of the aforementioned Phantom Society. Interestingly, Milady is the second individual Ringo revived to join her party. She is a realist and bottles up her true thoughts on various matters, with her past playing a significant part in that self-induced repression. Finally, as perhaps one of the broader themes this game will tackle, Ringo remarks upon the intrigue of human experiences being akin to data and the irony of the constraints they can spawn within someone.

Moving on, Milady has frequent bouts with fellow party member Arrow, who was a central focus in the initial Summoners Guide video. Still, she manages to get along well enough with everyone else. The Phantom Society member mentioned earlier, Iron Mask was supposedly romantically involved with Milady, yet he ordered a subordinate, R.S., to murder her for currently undisclosed reasons. Humorously, R.S communicates by freestyle rapping, which is, uh, certainly something.

In the realms of combat, Milady excels at fire-centric skills and physical strikes. Further, Ringo teases an ability to gain back MP from defeating enemies.

Following the news dump on Milady and specified aspects of the general story premise, Ringo details how dungeon exploration will work in this sequel. Similar to the Persona games and the recently released Shin Megami Tensei V, players can advantageously enter battles via overworld interactions. However, vice versa can occur with enemies gaining the upper hand. Moreover, if initiating a fight with an enemy downed by slashing, encounters will start with the entire party dishing out damage to tip the tides in your favor.

One of the more standout functionalities that will considerably aid players is Demon Recon. When entering a dungeon, Ringo sends out an array of Demons to explore the premises, and they can be re-found during exploration. They can provide players with free items, healing, and introductions to other demons in the vicinity. In addition, of course, demons can be recruited, affecting party members’ skills, affinities, and stats.

Lastly, if you reside in Tokyo, Japan, a hands-on event with Soul Hackers 2 will be held between June 4, 2022, and June 5, 2022. The game’s website will house more information on this opportunity.
