Following the debut of the new Sega video series, Sonic Speed Strats, the first Sonic Hedgehog game is discussed as part of the upcoming Sonic Origins collection. Basic gameplay information is detailed, such as the general level aesthetics and items alongside new inclusions such as the Spin Dash ability being present, both in Classic Mode and Anniversary Mode.
Further, Tails and Knuckles are also playable for the first time in this adventure, with the former able to fly and the latter able to stick to walls and climb. Sonic can use the Drop Dash skill, too, a technique originating from Sonic Mania. Lastly, Coins are mentioned as a new collectible currency found throughout the games, with them also used as a way to retry Special Stages in Anniversary Mode.
