Sonic Origins Shares Full Animated Cutscene, Sonic 3 & Knuckles Mirror Mode & More

Famitsu recently held a roughly hour-long preview stream of the upcoming Sonic Origins, showcasing several of the playable stages for fans to feast on. Further, and perhaps most notably, one of the title’s animated cutscenes was showcased. It depicts Sonic in Green Hill Zone, seeing Eggman harm its naturalism and inhabitants.

Mirror Mode in Sonic 3 & Knuckles is also featured, along with the UI present within the Museum. A map of the collection’s areas and the character selection in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 were revealed, too:

Sega has announced that Sonic Origins, the collection containing Sonic the Hedgehog 12Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD, is available to pre-order for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store for $39.99. Additionally, the release date has been confirmed as June 23, 2022, Sonic’s birthday.

This collection boasts the following features:

  • Classic Mode – In this mode, the games are featured in their original 4:3 presentation alongside finite lives and Game Overs.
  • Anniversary Mode – The games are full-screen in this mode, with infinite lives and no Game Overs.
  • Missions, Medallions, and Museum – Medallions can be earned by completing specific tasks, leading to unlocking new content, Special Stage access, and more.
