Sonic Frontiers Writer Ian Flynn Confirms DLC Story Involvement; “Will be Truly Important”

Ian Flynn, the writer for the latest entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series, Sonic Frontiers, has confirmed that he returned to the title to work on the upcoming DLC scenario’s storyline.

The title’s director, Morio Kishimoto, provided Flynn with the crucial details and events that would transpire, and he had to flesh them out. Further, Flynn emphasized that this DLC “will be truly important” and promotional material will contain hints on what fans can expect.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, depending on your perspective, he clarified that he would not share new details on the DLC’s narrative in his podcast, BumbleKast.

We’ll keep you all updated with the DLC development of Sonic Frontiers.

For those who missed the news, Sonic Frontiers received a post-launch roadmap with three planned content drops. The first was recently released, and the third will be the most significant, containing new playable characters and story content.

Interestingly, Sonic’s iconic spin dash technique will seemingly arrive in the second content drop.

Flynn’s tweet announcing his involvement with the Sonic Frontiers story DLC is viewable below:

Sonic Frontiers features an “open-zone” gameplay style, where players will freely explore five distinct islands housing unique biomes, puzzles, enemies, and more. Combat is a direct focus this time, with several enemy types to best and a skill tree to peruse. Moreover, the Cyber Space levels provide some familiar speed-centric linearity veteran fans can embrace.

Sonic Frontiers is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
